This is the last in my series of Banrock Station wines. It is a blend of 76% Semillon and 24% Chardonnay, and to paraphrase Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber, I like it, I like it a lot. I think it’s the best of the Banrock Station bunch. It has a nice straw color and an aroma of apricots. The flavor is sweet and tart, just as it should be in my opinion. I’ve learned that I like Semillon-Chardonnay blends, especially when served quite cold in a low-end Riedel wine glass. Much of what you read in wine magazines is bullshit (again, IMHO), but that Riedel makes the best wine glasses is almost undisputed. I received a set of 4 red and 4 white glasses for Christmas about 4 years ago and I swear by them. They are delicate though and I now own only 2 of the white wine glasses and a huge glass I use sometimes for tasting reds that I got while on a wine-tasting tour of Napa Valley at Silver Oak vineyards. I plan to get a new set sometime soon and you can expect better reviews at that time. ;) Anyhoo, this wine rocks, try it out.
