Despite the fact that I primarily drink red wine, I do love a good Riesling. And as you might guess, I’ll enjoy a mediocre one as well. My brother and his wife drink red wine exclusively and to introduce them to whites, I conducted a blind taste test. I bought two bottles of red and two bottles of white, then blindfolded each of them and had them taste each wine. I asked them only to identify whether each was red or white. Both of them mistook a red for a white or vice versa, and realized that white wines could be good too. Mission accomplished. However, I chose a Riesling as one of the whites and that one was correctly identified as a white wine before it touched anyone’s lips. This wine is just like that. You can tell it’s white before you get to it by the smart pear and citrus aroma. It is rather sweet and has flavors of lemon and grapefruit. Many folks may not agree with me, but I like this one. I find that few people (that I know anyway) appreciate sweet wines. This is far from a dessert wine, but it is sweeter than most. My advice is to drink it, but drink it rarely and drink it very cold.
