Grape: Riesling
Origin: Germany
Year: 2002
Producer: Deinhard
Price: $9.99 (375 ml)
This barely fits under my $20 limit if you double it to a normal 750 ml bottle but I wanted to try out a real dessert wine. This is a Riesling that sat on the vine longer than normal and got sweeter than normal. This is actually very cheap for a dessert wine. The very dominant aromas are honey and grapefruit and the color is a nice golden hue. As you would expect, it is sweet on the palate with a honeyed apricot flavor and a short finish that feels like you just ate some jam right out of the jar. Not bad for a cheap dessert wine.
