I’m learning, albeit slowly, that when I choose cheap wines I should choose current ones. This one is 4 years old, quite the old-timer for my collection (by which I mean the three or four bottles on top of my fridge). Sutter Home isn’t a high-falutin’ label to begin with, but the fact that no one purchased this bottle for the four years it’s likely been on a shelf somewhere should have clued me in. It smells like the trash after a few days on the curb. I thought it had turned at first but it’s just bad wine. It doesn’t taste like it has turned, it just has few distinguishing flavors in general. It doesn’t taste like much until the finish, which I’d describe as “pukey.” Best avoided by all.
