I almost had my first accidental re-tasting of the same wine. I thought Protocolo sounded familiar but I wasn't sure so I bought it. It turns out that the wine I had reviewed was the previous vintage but I had also failed to remember that I didn't like it. This one is nearly two bucks more expensive, so hopefully it is better. The color is certainly nice, a deep purple. Smells like dark fruit with pepper and spices. Unfortunately, it tastes like baloney with a little artificial smokiness such as you might find in beef jerky. Or maybe it's salami. Whatever pork product it tastes like, it isn't a flavor I want in my wine. Unless I forget again in future years, this will be my last Protocolo.
