I went apple-picking as I do every year about this time but I went somewhere new. I went to the Nashoba Valley Farm and Winery, which allowed for both apple-picking and some wine tasting. I recommend visiting the place if you get a chance, it’s in Bolton, Massachusetts and open year-round. In addition to fruit picking, they have a restaurant and they make a wide variety of wines and beers on the premises. Best of all, you can taste any wine or beer they have (with the exception of a couple ports) for free! So I tasted away and brought a few bottles home although I’ll probably go back and try to review them all at some point. The first one is a Merlot-type wine that is made with blueberries. It has a rich blueberry aroma and a richer blueberry flavor. It’s marked as a semi-sweet wine and it does have some sugar to it. You can also detect some slight tannins on the finish. It basically tastes like a smooth Merlot infused with blueberry. Very interesting.
