This light-yellow chardonnay from Australia smells like citrus fruits. I like Australian wines. They are generally very good and the shelves are full of discount varieties right now. This is the first of a series of wines I’m tasting from Banrock Station because I picked up five different bottles at 2 for $9.99 at Dyer Liquors in Watertown, MA. If this one is any indication, I’m in for a treat. It’s smooth and tasty, slightly sweet, and the flavors get richer on the finish. My father-in-law has very mainstream tastes in wine (Carlo Rossi and other big jug wines) and he liked it a lot despite the fact that it’s considerably less sweet than his usual vino.
