Light straw in color with a grassy, citrus aroma. The flavor is just very basic. Not offensive in any way, not interesting in any way. It’s on par in terms of quality with the Cheap Red Wine I already reviewed. It also delivers exactly on the promise of the label. The label also says that the most important thing about a wine is that you enjoy it. This is adequate table wine but I think “enjoy” is an overstatement.

I haven’t had a lot of vinho verde so I don’t really know what to expect or how to judge this one very well. It’s not what I expected though. I think it’s technically a still wine but I swear it’s slightly effervescent. When I remove the twist cap it hisses and you can see tiny bubbles. It isn’t so prominent as with a Moscato D’Asti for example, but it’s definitely there which is weird. It’s very light in color like a Pinot Grigio and it has a scent of unripe citrus. That unripe citrus carries through on the flavor and is complemented by some herbal, grassy notes. The flavor seems intentional, though I don’t personally care much for wine that tastes this much like an unripe grapefruit.

I don’t drink too many Grecian wines so this should be a treat. The color is light yellow with a touch of green and a grassy aroma. It’s quite dry and well balanced with subtle fruit and herbal notes. I’d say it’s similar to a dry Riesling. If you like dry whites, this is a tasty one.

Smells a bit like honey and apricot, as if it will taste like a sweet Riesling. The flavor isn’t actually sweet though. It has a slight sweetness but the flavor is mostly citrus and has a full body for a cheap white wine. I detect a note of vanilla and it has a very tangy punch that leads into a medium finish.

Another wine my father-in-law brought down from New Hampshire. I thought it was a Riesling at first and I’m sure there’s at least some of that grape in there, but the label isn’t clear on the point, not in English anyway. The aroma is of lemongrass and the flavor is quite charming. It’s sweet but clean and crisp. A very nice white wine that would go with nearly anything.

This is a blend of two obscure French grapes, Colombard and Ugni Blanc. I’ve honestly never heard of either one. It comes with a screw cap and the aroma is citrus with bubble gum. The flavor is what I’d be generous to call “piss poor.” It tastes like an unripe grapefruit. On a positive note, the finish is mercifully short. I think I know why I’ve never heard of these grapes…

This is a grape native to Argentina and I’ve never had it before so this will be a treat. It is very light in color, like a Pinot Grigio. The aroma is honey, citrus and melon. It actually smells more like a dessert wine than anything. The flavor isn’t sweet though, I’d say it’s a little on the dry side and tart. The mouth feel is very light, as if it is almost evaporating in your mouth. It has a medium finish that carries the tart flavor throughout. Very interesting wine.

Light in color and smells like fruit. Tastes like sweet apples. This wine is grown in New York, which is a bit of a novelty. The label itself is very user-friendly, it has a scale to let you know how sweet versus dry it is and what types of food to pair it with. Pretty good for the price.

This wine is from the Alsace region of France and I hear many good things about these wines. I also got this wine at a store that usually carries only very good wines. It even has a nice looking label, everything about this wine tells me I’ll like it except the fact that it is from France. I hate to say it, but I rarely like French wines. Sounds ridiculous but it’s true. It smells great too, a little spicy. Unfortunately, it tastes bad, like medicine. I think this is just a style of wine that I don’t appreciate so I won’t bag it too much but I really don’t like it.

Vidal Blanc is a grape that originated in France but producers don’t grow it much except in the Northeast U.S. which makes it a pretty rare beast. It has a nice fruity aroma with grapefruit, pineapple and floral notes. The flavor is dry and tart with some astringency toward the finish. Pretty good wine given its origins.
