I’m a sucker for a sweet wine so I saw this on sale and went for it. It’s a screw top too, which never hurts (IMHO). Has the color of a Pinot Grigio, looks like it in the bottle too, if you weren’t paying attention you’d mistake it for one. The smell is all Moscato though, apricot in full. It’s a bit sweet and definitely fruity, also apricot primarily, though not as sweet as other Moscatos I’ve had. The flavor also quickly turns a bit more tart and drab towards the quick, crisp finish. It’s not a bad wine overall but it’s not the best Moscato I’ve had by quite a stretch.

Slightly fizzy with a very fragrant apricot nose. Has a light mouth feel and a clean, sweet flavor. Yes, this is a Moscato D’Asti. I think I will continue to drink this type of wine because it is an excellent dessert wine and a real crowd pleaser. However, I don’t think I’ll review many more of them unless I have a real reason because Moscato pretty much always tastes the same.

First review of 2007! I don’t take well to carbonation in general so when the occasion calls for Champagne, I usually drink Moscato D’Asti. It has a bit of carbonation but not too much. This one has a lively pear aroma and a clean, slightly sweet but unremarkable flavor. Maybe in 2008 I’ll spring for a better Moscato…

This one is just this side of cough syrup. Smells of honey and ripe fruit. Tastes like cough syrup. Just overpowering sweetness followed by a jolt of alcohol. It’s almost more like tasting Limoncello than wine although the flavor is entirely different. Not too much else to it, don’t know if I’d try it again. I’ve had some great Greek wines, this just isn’t among them.

Had this wine at a wine class I’m taking. It is basically a dessert wine. It has a little bit of fizz to it, nothing like champagne but it’s definitely there. Our instructor said that this wine is ancient, it’s been produced in Italy for at least 2000 years and was Julius Caesar’s favorite wine. It has a very distinct apricot aroma and it’s quite sweet, as you would expect. It’s a light sweetness though, not syrupy like some dessert wines. This is a very good, highly recommended dessert wine and at only $10 a bottle!

Name: Muscat de Beaulieu
Price: $8.99

This is a cheap dessert wine that I found at the corner store. I usually don’t find dessert wine of any sort for less than $10 a bottle, and by “bottle” I mean one of those 375ml jobs. This one caught my eye at $8.99. And what you get for that kind of money is a servicable dessert wine. It isn’t fantastic by any stretch, but it doesn’t taste like a Wal-mart wine, which for a dessert wine it clearly is. It has the typical aroma of honeyed apricots and a sweet, slightly syrupy flavor that shows its high alcohol content on the long-ish finish.

This wine is a real treat. It’s slightly fizzy with fine bubbles and smells of fruit and fresh cut grass. It is a sweet wine, I would drink it as a dessert wine for sure. The flavor is of pear and is quite creamy as well. This is one of the better wines I’ve had within the $20 price cap. Everyone likes this wine, even those who aren’t crazy about wine.
