Nice looking label. Smells like dark fruit with a hint of leather and wood. Has a slight sweetness at first and a bit of a burnt flavor but then matures into more of what you expect in Chianti. Gets pretty dry and a little tart, then ends with a medium finish. I drank this alone but it has characteristics that would make it much better with food, maybe some pasta and meatballs.

Buy a bottle of Da Vinci 2004 Chianti Classico

Nice cherry aroma but when it hits your taste buds you’ll absolutely pucker and make a face. This tastes like very unripe cherries. Some tannins add a bit of additional punch to the ending which segues into a blessedly short finish. Bad Chianti, bad.

Smells of blackberries. A little thin but tasty with a little spice on the medium finish. I had this with a lasagna dinner and it was ok and served the purpose but I can’t help thinking that there are better wines for the job. $7.99 is not a lot to pay for a wine and I haven’t tried a lot of Chiantis but there are probably better ones out there at this price.
